12 HIGHLIGHTS OF 2022

Another year is almost at an end and soon we’ll be starting to think about holidays, festive meals and new year’s resolutions. We thought now would be a good time to look back over 2022 and call out highlights from the year. To give it a little festive spin, we’ve made it into a ‘Twelve highlights of GROW 2022’ format – enjoy!

Highlight-1
Leadership Series Talk by Robb

In February, we heard from our very own Robb about his career to date, how he came to be CEO of Audio Network, and how he navigates the world of leadership.

Highlight-2
Women’s History Month

For Women’s History Month we celebrated with charity partner You Make It, who spoke to us about how they support, mentor and upskill under and unemployed women (particularly of colour) for them to land roles within the creative industries. We also spoke to Shauni Caballero about her experiences in the music industry.

Highlight-3
Pride Month

For  Pride Month, we started off with an informative talk by Bassel Deeb on a history of the Pride movement and a reflection on the current climate. We also heard from Allana Grant from our Pride Month charity partner, Mermaids, on the challenges faced by gender-diverse kids, young people and their families.

Highlight-4
Diversity in Health Experiences

As part of GROW Month, we heard from Melissa about her experiences and challenges with her health from a young age, and how she’s had to adapt accordingly.

Highlight-5
Masculinity in the Workplace

We were joined by guest speaker Daniele Fiandaca from Token Man who talked about “Why Men Need to Lean Into Inclusion and Diversity”.

Highlight-6
Neurodiversity

We kicked off this theme with an informative talk by Amy Walker from GroupM and Neurodiversity Works - “Why Neurodiversity Works”. We then heard from our own Nick Platt, who shared his family’s experiences with Neurodiversity (please do not to share recording)

Highlight-7

We were thrilled to have Dame Evelyn Glennie and Doctor Finola Ryan LIVE in the London Office for a talk about Hearing Health in the music industry, and Dame Evelyn’s own experiences in this area.

Highlight-8
World Suicide Prevention Day

For World Suicide Prevention Day, Georgie (one of our Mental Health First Aiders along with Jess Nicks) shared resources on Audio Network’s EAP (Employee Assistance Programme), which includes mental health toolkits, articles and counsellors. Georgie and Jess are there to support employees with any mental health concerns.

Highlight-9
Dyslexia Awareness Week

For Dyslexia Awareness week, we posted some key facts about Dyslexia – something that impacts more people than you think, including celebs like Jim Carrey, Whoopi Goldberg and Albert Einstein, and some of our own Audio Network colleagues.

Highlight-10
Black History Month UK

We were joined by Charisse Beaumont, CEO of Black Lives in Music. It was an incredibly powerful talk that gave a deeper insight into the challenges faced by Black music creators and industry professionals, also offering advice to companies and individuals on how we can take action to make a difference. You can also access their full report here: https://blim.org.uk/report

Highlight-11
Leadership Series Talk by Patrick

In November we brought back our GROW Leadership Series, with Patrick, who kindly agreed to join us for 73 rapid-fire questions from Neil and the GROW team.

Highlight-12
Transgender Awareness Week

This one-week celebration focuses on how to help raise the visibility of transgender and gender variant people - and address the issues the community faces. We heard from Allana Grant from Mermaids, on the challenges faced by gender-diverse kids, young people and their families.

We should point out that this list is by no means exhaustive, and there is much more in the GROW Teams Channel; this is just to give you an easily digestible flavour.
